Ambulance driver spared jail after two die in crash

Julie Ijere, 60, avoided imprisonment after a private ambulance she operated veered into the opposite lane on 19 December 2023. The head-on smash resulted in the deaths of two pensioners, one of whom was a patient. Ijere admitted to causing the fatalities, claiming she had blacked out while at the wheel. The court decided against a custodial sentence following the admission of the driver regarding the tragic incident involving the private vehicle.
