Aung San Suu Kyi appears healthy in first confirmed outside contact for 2.5 years

The International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed a meeting with detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi. This encounter follows years of uncertainty regarding the 81-year-old's wellbeing and location after the February 2021 military coup ousted her civilian government. Newly released photographs from the Myanmar military government show the ICRC official with Suu Kyi, who appears healthy. This marks her first confirmed contact with an outside representative in approximately two and a half years of detention.
