Director Mike Leigh likely to retire after his next film due to illness

Oscar-nominated writer-director Mike Leigh has stated that his upcoming film, Tender Loving Care, is likely to be his final project. Speaking at a Golden Globes roundtable in London, the 83-year-old British filmmaker explained that he is managing myositis, an immune system disease. Due to these ongoing health issues, Leigh believes that producing further movies will not be possible after the premiere of his latest drama, which is scheduled for the autumn festival season.
