An analysis of accidents in England and Wales indicates that e-scooter riders are three times more likely to suffer traumatic brain injuries than motorcyclists. Brain injuries represent over a third of adult e-scooter casualties. Furthermore, riders experience greater internal organ and blood vessel damage compared to pedal cyclists or motorcyclists. The study highlights that women are particularly susceptible to serious harm, while only 6% of e-scooter users wear a helmet during their journeys.
