Former teacher charged with 1970s sex assaults

Pauline Newton, aged 77, has been charged with four counts of indecent assault against a girl under 16 during the 1970s. Separately, Iain Wares, a former Edinburgh teacher, has been convicted of abusing a pupil at a school in Cape Town. Wares now faces potential extradition to Scotland to address further sex abuse charges, although his sentencing in South Africa has been postponed again as legal processes continue for both individuals involved in these cases.
