German doctor jailed for killing 15 of his patients

A 41-year-old German palliative care doctor, identified as Johannes M., has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Berlin court. He was found guilty of murdering 12 women and three men between September 2021 and July 2024. The killings were carried out using sedatives during home visits. Authorities expressed concerns that the doctor may have been responsible for dozens of additional deaths beyond the fifteen cases for which he was officially convicted.
