Venezuela rocked by powerful back-to-back earthquakes

North-central Venezuela was struck by powerful back-to-back earthquakes, including a magnitude 7.1 event occurring west of Valencia at a depth of 13km. These quakes are among the strongest to hit the nation in over a century. The initial earthquake caused homes and buildings to collapse, with tremors felt by residents in neighbouring Colombia. The US Geological Survey confirmed the seismic activity, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon in an area located west of Caracas.
