'I thought he was my friend' - Man stabbed in the neck by pal he tried to help

Two separate violent incidents have been reported. In Newcastle city centre, Benjamin Goddard caused horrific injuries to his partner after consuming alcohol and inhaling laughing gas. In another case, Robert Tait suddenly attacked a man with a knife in the victim's home, stabbing him in the neck without any apparent reason. Both victims had previously viewed their attackers as trusted friends or partners before these sudden and severe physical assaults occurred in different settings.
