Sir Idris Elba has officially ruled himself out of playing James Bond, despite over a decade of public speculation. Although leaked Sony emails in 2014 suggested he was a favourite and Barbara Broccoli confirmed he was part of the conversation, the actor has dismissed these claims. Elba stated that the rumours were never legitimate and cited his age as a reason for stepping aside, suggesting that audiences might not accept a Black male in the 007 role.
