Judge rules FDA restrictions on mifepristone are arbitrary and capricious

A US district judge in Virginia, Robert S Ballou, has ruled that certain FDA restrictions on the abortion medication mifepristone are arbitrary and capricious. This decision follows a 2023 lawsuit initiated by three abortion providers. The judge upheld the safety of mifepristone and ordered the Trump administration to examine and consider overturning these restrictions, as barriers to abortion access continue to increase across the country, ensuring the drug's safety is recognised legally.
