MP Joani Reid to have Labour suspension lifted after husband’s arrest on suspicion of spying for China

MP Diane Abbott has been readmitted to the Labour Party following a year-long suspension initiated in July last year over comments regarding racism. This return follows a formal warning. Simultaneously, Joani Reid, the MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven, has also had her suspension lifted. This decision comes after a four-month party probe concerning her husband's arrest on suspicion of spying for China. Prime Minister Andy Burnham oversaw the return of both parliamentarians to the party.
