Girl, 11, becomes first UK patient to have gene therapy to stop her going blind

Catherine L’Estrange, an 11-year-old girl from North Acton in London, has become the first patient in the UK to receive gene therapy to stop her from going blind. Diagnosed with a rare genetic condition as a baby, she underwent the surgery to halt her sight loss. Catherine is hopeful that this medical treatment will enable her to continue enjoying one of her favourite hobbies, which is reading books, as she manages her condition.
