Ten metres of old Tyne and Wear Metro track will be repurposed to create a new war memorial in South Shields. This monument will honour British soldiers who served in the Asia-Pacific region during World War Two. Separately, a wedding dress lost on the Tyne and Wear Metro has been reunited with its bride. Although the dress was successfully claimed, the mystery regarding how the garment ended up on the train remains only partially solved by authorities.
