Roberto Mancini returns as Italy head coach with Claudio Ranieri named technical director

Roberto Mancini has agreed to return as Italy head coach for a second spell, replacing Gennaro Gattuso. FIGC president Giovanni Malago confirmed the appointment, alongside Claudio Ranieri, who takes over from Paolo Maldini as technical director. Mancini previously managed the national team from 2018 to 2023, notably leading Italy to European Championship victory in 2021. These appointments follow a period of turmoil after Italy failed to qualify for a third consecutive World Cup tournament.
